    The classes described below are designed so that you can take the whole series in Shanghai and Dianshan Lake to earn a PDC (Permaculture Design Certificate); alternatively, if your time or interest is limited, you can take individual thematic "Open Session" courses to deepen existing knowledge or discover some new idea, practices, and methods from Permaculture and related fields of action.

     

    It's a great opportunity to ask those burning questions to an expert with 50 years of experience about:

    Whether you're ready to start seriously studying Permaculture, or you've heard the word and have always wanted to learn more, this course is highly recommended for you. Learn the big concepts that inform Permaculture movements, designs, communities, and land systems.

     

    Learn the Permaculture history, it's purpose and potential in the greater global context. Learn about the three Permaculture ethics and 35 design principles used severally or jointly by Permaculture practitioners around the world.

     

    Learn about the concepts and themes that drive ecologically inspired designs in Permaculture. We will also look at a Permaculture definition for design, how to go about it, and discuss design methods popular in Permaculture.

    • How can our understanding of nature inform our practice in agriculture?
    • Does it matter how we think about nature, culture, food and vitality?
    • What are the principles of biodynamic agriculture?

    How to get to our workshops - tips and tricks

    Urban Soup Kitchen

    near Xujiahui Station, Exit 9

    Metro exit no.9 is the closest.

     

    Make sure to enter the alley on the left of the Kungfu Restaurant.

     

    Urban Soup Kitchen is on the left side when you enter the building.

     

  • Cengu Eco-Farm

    Location: Dianshan Lake, Cengu Eco-Farm

    Directions:

     

    Option 1 - Take the Bus

    Step 1

    Take the 7:30 AM bus from Danshui Bus Station (淡水路长乐路)it is a one minute walk from Line 1 Huangpi South Station.

     

    Step 2

    Get off at Jinze Bus Station (金泽汽车站) and wait for us to pick you up the bus that leaves at 7:30AM should arrive at 8:30AM.

     

    Option 2 - Take The Subway

     

    Take Line 2 or Line 10 to Hongqiao Railway Station (虹桥火车站) and take a taxi to the farm. Call or message in the group to see if we can send a car to pick you up.

     

    IMPORTANT

    Whether you take the Subway or Bus, please coordinate with the classmates on the Dianshan WeChat group to coordinate ride sharing.

    We will provide transportation to the station for people that will return to the city in the evening.
